Preatahi House Super Market

Preatahi House Super Market is located out in Malayamma. It’s a place where we try to have a bit of everything for the people living nearby. We aren't in the middle of a big city, so we serve as the main spot for locals to get their groceries. Running a supermarket here means you have to be ready for anything. One person wants a specific type of spice and the next person is looking for a new plastic bucket. We spend a lot of time arranging the items so people can find them easily, though sometimes things get moved around by mistake. The floor is usually a bit worn from all the foot traffic. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just some ceiling fans that hum all day. It’s a family-run kind of feeling here. We know who likes which brand of tea and who usually comes in on Tuesdays for their big shop. Sometimes the deliveries are late and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow for their favorite biscuits. It’s not a perfect system but we make it work. We stay busy with the cleaning and the stocking. It’s just us doing our part in Malayamma and making sure there is food on the shelves for everyone who walks in. The days are long but we like seeing our neighbors every day.
