Pochavva Earth Movers

Our place is at 46 Mahathma Gandhi Road, right in the Pulimoodu area. If you’ve been around here, you know how packed MG Road can get. We deal with earth moving equipment, so it’s mostly about big machines and lots of dirt. Pochavva Earth Movers isn’t some fancy name we picked out of a hat; it means something to us. We’ve got a couple of machines that we send out for different jobs around the city. Dealing with heavy machinery is a lot of maintenance. There is always something that needs greasing or a part that needs fixing after a long day on a site. Pulimoodu is a central spot, so it makes it easier for us to get to different parts of town, though moving a big digger through traffic is never fun. We started out small and we’ve stayed pretty much the same size. We like it that way because we know exactly what is happening with every job. We don’t use a lot of big words or have meetings all day. We just take the calls, figure out the schedule, and get the machines where they need to go. It’s heavy work and the hours can be long, but that is the nature of earth moving. Most of our days are spent coordinating with drivers and making sure the fuel tanks are full for the next morning so we don't waste time.
