If you go down to the Chalai area, you will find Narayanan Subramonian & Co. We are located at TC 23/840, in an upstairs office on Valiachalai Street. It is a very traditional part of Thiruvananthapuram, filled with history and a lot of trade. Being near the railway line means you can often hear the trains passing by, which is something we’ve just gotten used to. Chalai is a busy market area, so there is always a lot of energy and movement right outside our door. Our office is reached by a flight of stairs that are a bit narrow, but it opens up into a decent workspace once you get to the top. It’s an old-fashioned office in many ways. We still keep a lot of physical ledgers alongside the computers. The wooden rafters and the old style of the building give it a lot of character. We deal with a lot of local businesses and traders from the market, so there’s always someone stopping by with a question or a document. It’s a very hands-on place to work. We don't have air conditioning in every room, so the fans are always spinning fast during the summer months. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment. We focus on our work and try to help our neighbors in the market keep their accounts in order. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you don’t know Chalai well, but it’s worth the trip for the atmosphere alone.
