Mitra Hermitage Ayurveda Hospital

Mitra Hermitage Ayurveda Hospital is located out in Venkara, Thiruvalla. It’s a bit quieter out here than in the main town, which suits what we do. We focus on Ayurveda, so there’s always the smell of oils and herbs hanging in the air. The building itself has a bit of an older feel to it, not like those new glass buildings you see in the cities. We have rooms for people to stay while they get their treatments. It’s not a luxury resort; it’s a hospital. The staff here knows how to handle the different herbs and the wooden tables used for the treatments. We spend a lot of time preparing things by hand. The garden has some of the plants we use, though it gets a bit wild during the monsoon season. People come from all over Thiruvalla to stay with us for a week or two. We don’t have a big website with professional photos. What you see is what you get. The floorboards might creak a little and the fans are old, but it stays cool enough. It’s a slow pace of life here in Venkara. We just follow the old ways of doing things because that’s what we know. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. Most of the people who work here live just a short walk away. It’s a plain place for traditional care and we just take it one day at a time.
