Mathruthwam Ayurvedic Life Care Clinic

Varkala is a pretty unique place, especially around North Helipad Road where we are located. Our clinic, Mathruthwam, is sitting at Vmc No 28/563, and it’s usually quite peaceful here compared to the main tourist spots. You can often smell the herbs and oils we use from the moment you step onto the porch. We spend a lot of time preparing different mixtures and keeping the treatment rooms ready for whoever comes by. The air here feels a bit different, maybe because we are so close to the coast and the helipad area isn't as cramped as the town center. Most days, we arrive early to sweep the front and get the kettle going. We see locals who have lived in Varkala their whole lives and also some travelers who are just passing through and need some care. The clinic isn't very large, but it has enough room for what we need to do. We don't use a lot of fancy equipment or bright neon signs. It’s just a plain building where we focus on the traditional ways of doing things. Sometimes it gets a bit busy in the evenings when people are heading home, but usually, it's a slow and steady pace. We like the quiet rhythm of this street. It allows us to take our time with people and not feel like we are in a huge rush. It’s just a normal part of life here on North Helipad Road and we like it.
