You can find us at building number VP XII/1108, which is known as Aruvikara Veedu. It is a traditional kind of setting for a Grameen Nidhi office. We are tucked away in a spot that feels more like a home than a bank. The building is older but it serves us well for the work we do. We have set up our tables and chairs in the main rooms to handle the visitors who come from the surrounding village areas. Working in Aruvikara is peaceful for the most part, except when the rain hits the roof really hard. We spend our mornings going through the daily collections and updating the records for the members. There is a lot of handwriting involved in what we do, as we like to keep physical copies of everything. The staff here are all local, so we know the families who come in to save their money. It’s a very informal atmosphere, where someone might stay for a chat after they finish their business. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, just the basic stuff to keep things running properly. The yard outside has some trees, and it’s a nice place to step out for a minute when the office gets a bit stuffy. We take our work seriously but we don't act like we are in a big city office. It is just the way things are done around here in the village.
