Indian Wood Crafts

Indian Wood Crafts is located at House Mp 10/485 in Govinda Mangalam. We are pretty close to Balarama Puram, specifically near the Ooruttambalam area. It’s a green part of the world, and our workshop is right there in the mix. The house itself is where we handle the business side of things. Out back is where the actual wood crafts happen. You can hear the hammering from the road if you’re walking by. We use a lot of local wood that we get from around this region. Sometimes the rain in Kerala makes the wood a bit damp, so we have to wait for it to dry out properly before we can start on it. There’s no big showroom here. If you want to see what we’re making, you just walk into the yard where the benches are. We’ve got wood shavings in our hair most of the time. It’s a family-run kind of thing, very informal. People from the village stop by to chat or ask for a small repair. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been at this address for years. The neighbors are used to the noise of the saws. It’s just a steady life of working with your hands and making sure the wood looks decent for whoever needs it at the end of the day.
