Holy Cross English School

Holy Cross English School is situated in Mottamoodu, Vattappara. It’s a bit away from the main city buzz, which is nice. The area is fairly green, and the air feels a bit fresher. We have a modest building here. The classrooms are basic, with wooden desks and benches that have been around for a while. You can see the trees from most of the windows. The kids mostly come from the families living nearby in Vattappara. We have a small yard where they gather in the mornings. It’s not a very loud place until the bell rings for break time. Then it’s total chaos for twenty minutes. We have a few staff members who have been here for years. They know most of the families by name. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or anything like that. It’s just books and talk. Sometimes the cows from the neighboring plots wander close to the fence. The school day follows a pretty steady pattern. We start with the assembly and then it’s straight into the lessons. It gets quiet in the afternoons when the sun is out and everyone is a bit tired. We just try to get through the syllabus. It’s a local school for local people. Nothing more, nothing less. We’re just part of the landscape in Mottamoodu. It feels right being here. Most people just walk here and back home.
