Fatima Hospital & Pallaitive Care Centre

We are located at the St. Xavier's College post in Thumba, which is a bit of a distance from the center of Trivandrum. It’s a nice area because it’s a little more open and you get a bit of a breeze from the coast sometimes. This location is both Fatima Hospital and a Palliative Care Centre. That means we see a lot of people who are going through some very difficult times with their health. Because of the nature of palliative care, we try to keep the atmosphere a bit more peaceful here. We have some trees around the building and the noise from the road isn’t as bad as it is in the city. The staff here has to be very patient and kind, as the work can be quite heavy on the heart. We have rooms for patients to stay in, and they are basic but clean. We don't have a big budget for advertising, so we rely on the families we’ve helped to tell others about us. The building itself is functional and has everything we need to provide care, from beds to medical supplies. It’s a quiet routine of checking on people, making them comfortable, and talking with their relatives. We take things one day at a time here in Thumba. It’s a necessary place for the community, and we just try to do our bit without any fuss or fancy talk or corporate polished language.
