We’re located right at Statue Junction, which is probably one of the most well-known spots in Thiruvananthapuram. It’s always buzzing with people and traffic. Our office for Ahlan Travels is a small place where we focus on getting folks where they need to go. We do a lot of work with international travel, specifically helping people with all the documents they need for working abroad. It’s not the most exciting work, but someone has to do it and we’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years. We sit here surrounded by passport copies and visa forms. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons, even with the windows open, but we just keep at it. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting lounge with fancy magazines. It’s just a plain room where you can sit down and tell us what you need. We don’t use any complicated business talk. We just explain the process and what it’s going to cost. Sometimes the phones all ring at once and it gets a bit chaotic, but we manage to stay on top of it. We like being so central because it’s easy for everyone to reach us by bus or auto. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shop owners on the street. It’s just a normal, hardworking local business trying to do things right.
