Our shop is on Pillaiyar Kovil Street, number 312, over in Marthandakuppam. Kattur is a small enough area where everyone basically knows where everything is anyway. I’m Ram Prakash Agrawal, and this is just my local business. We’ve been here at this spot for quite a long time now. It’s a busy street, especially near the temple, so there’s always noise and people passing by at all hours. We handle a variety of goods, mostly things people use in their kitchens every day like basic grains and spices. The shop isn’t very big, and we have stuff piled up pretty high to make use of the vertical space. It can be a bit cramped when more than two people come in at once. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just walk in or call us on the phone when they need something. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door during the monsoon, so we have to keep the bags moved back to keep them dry. It’s just a regular life here. I have one helper who comes in the afternoons to move the heavy sacks. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the neighbors who stop in for a bit of salt or some chili powder. It’s a slow pace compared to the city, but we like it that way. We don't try to be anything we aren't. Just a local shop on a busy street trying to keep the shelves full.
