We’ve been here at Plot No.85 in the SIDCO Industrial Estate for quite a while now. Kakkalur isn't the busiest place in the world, but it’s where we get things done. Most mornings start with the sound of the shutters going up and a quick cup of tea before the machines start to hum. It’s a lot of manual work and checking things over and over. We aren't a giant factory with thousands of people, just a local crew that knows how to handle the equipment. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. Sometimes the power flickers or the trucks get stuck in the narrow lanes, but that is just part of being in an industrial estate like this. We handle various electrical parts and assemblies, mostly stuff that goes into bigger machines that other people build. There isn't anything fancy about the office; it’s mostly just desks, some old filing cabinets, and the smell of oil and metal from the floor. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we really have to. Most of the day is spent out back, making sure the orders are moving along like they should. If you walk past our gate, you'll probably just see some crates waiting for pickup and a few bikes parked out front. It’s a steady life here. We just focus on getting the day's work finished so we can head home.
