Our place is out on Mahathma Gandhi Street in the Thiruvallur side of Chennai. It’s at number 173. Mamuzaa Foods And Snacks Private Limited is basically just a kitchen and a storage space where we put together different types of snacks. It isn't a huge factory or anything. We mostly have local workers who live nearby and come in every morning to start the fryers or pack the bags. The street isn't as crowded as the city center, but it still gets its share of traffic. We spend a lot of time weighing out ingredients and making sure the packets are sealed right. There’s always a smell of oil and spices in the air here. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning fixing them, which slows everything down. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that because we’re mostly focused on the back-end work. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day. We try to stay organized with our records, but things get messy when we have a big order to finish. We’re just a small group of people trying to make a living by making things people like to eat. It’s practical work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. There’s not much more to it than that. We just do our jobs and go home.
