Jisic Foundation

We are located at Usha Garden, which is right on the Chennai Periyapalayam Highway. Our number is 90. Being on the highway means we see a lot of traffic passing by, mostly trucks and buses headed out of the city at all hours. It’s a bit of a trek from the center of Chennai, but we like it out here in Kannigaipair. The air feels a bit different than the downtown area. Our foundation operates out of a space that used to be a regular house. We’ve converted the rooms into offices and a small meeting area for when people visit. The garden mentioned in the address is mostly just a few trees and some grass we try to keep green. It’s a bit of a struggle in the summer months when the sun is really strong. We have people coming in from the nearby villages quite often to talk to us. We don't have a big staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering phones to cleaning up the office after a long day. We often eat lunch together at a small table in the back room. The highway noise is constant, but you stop noticing it after a week or two of working here. We just keep our heads down and do the work we need to do. It’s a straightforward setup. We don't have any fancy signage or glass walls. Just a solid, practical place to work and get things done for the community.
