Our small unit for Janari Food Masala Products Privatelimited is located at Door No 20 on R E Nagar 2nd Street in Porur. We focus on making food masalas for everyday cooking. It’s a local thing we started because we wanted to do something for ourselves. The smell of ground spices is always hanging in the air around our street. We spend our days grinding and mixing different ingredients together. It is dusty work and it often makes you sneeze, but we have gotten used to it by now. We aren’t trying to compete with the big brands that you see on the television. We just sell to the people around here and some of the local shops. Every batch we make might be a little bit different because the spices aren't always the same every season. We try our best to keep it consistent though. Porur is a very busy place, but our street is tucked away a little bit. Most of our time is spent checking the quality of the chilies and the coriander that we buy. It is a lot of manual labor, packing everything into the small bags by hand. We don't have any fancy automated systems. It is just us and a couple of grinding machines. We just want to make a decent product that people can use in their kitchens. That is about the whole story for us. We just keep working hard every day.
