Dr.Sabitha Tamilini Tamil People Development Federation

This foundation is located at Plot Number 19 on 9th Avenue in Banu Nagar. That is in the Pudur area of Ambattur, which falls under the Tiruvallur district. It is quite a long name for a place, but we just call it our work home. The neighborhood is a mix of houses and small businesses, so there is always some activity on the avenue. We have been working from this spot for a while now, and the routine is pretty much the same every week. We open up in the morning, sort through the mail, and see who needs help with what. Being in Ambattur gives us a good connection to the local people who live and work in this part of Tamil Nadu. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a regular building with enough room for us to sit and talk. We don't go in for big presentations or try to impress anyone with fancy talk. Most of our days are spent on the phone or writing things down in ledgers. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait for it to come back on while we chat. It is a very normal, local way of doing things. We know the shopkeepers nearby and they know what we are doing at the federation. It is a community-based life and we are happy to be part of the 600053 area.
