Our branch of V R L Logistics Limited is located over at 4, Kccf Compound on Thiruthangal Road. Sivakasi is a busy place, especially with all the transport moving in and out every single day. The compound is quite large, which is good because we have to fit the big lorries in for loading. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually try to get the heavy lifting done early or late when the sun isn't so sharp. We’ve got a small crew here, mostly guys who have been in the transport line for years. We aren't big on fancy office talk; we just tell you when the truck is coming and when it should get there. The paperwork piles up on the desks, especially during the peak seasons when everyone is sending stuff across the state. Sometimes the rain messes up the schedule on Thiruthangal Road, and we have to scramble to keep everything dry. It’s a lot of shouting back and forth to get the drivers parked correctly. We keep a cooler of water by the door because the dust makes your throat dry. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to keep things moving. We don't have many chairs for visitors, so people usually just stand and talk shop while we check the manifests. It’s a grit-and-grind type of business, and we like it that way.
