You can find our office at 30/1 on Madurai Road in the Vadagarai part of Periyakulam. It’s a small place, mostly just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of forms for the licensing department. We’ve been teaching people how to drive for a long time now. Most of our day is spent out on the road rather than inside the office. The traffic in Theni can be a bit tricky, so we take the learners out early in the morning when it’s a bit quieter. Our cars aren’t brand new, they have a few scratches and the clutches are a bit worn from all the practice, but they run just fine. Teaching someone to drive takes a lot of patience, especially when they are nervous about the gears or the heavy traffic on the main road. We see all kinds of people, from young kids getting their first license to older folks who finally decided they wanted to learn. Sometimes the weather is too hot and we have to take breaks in the shade. We don't do any big advertising; people usually just hear about us from their neighbors or cousins. It’s a straightforward job. We show them the rules, help them with the steering, and hope they pass their test on the first try. It’s a busy life, always watching the mirrors and making sure the students don't stall in the middle of a turn.
