About Lingam Brand Rice Mundy – Food & Beverages in Theni
At 95 Gandhinagar in Cumbum, we run Lingam Brand Rice Mundy. It’s a simple warehouse setup where we keep many bags of rice piled up. The floor is made of old concrete that’s been worn smooth over the years. We spend our mornings unloading trucks and our afternoons helping people load bags into their cars or onto their cycles. Cumbum is a busy town, and our street gets quite crowded with traffic and people moving about. The smell of dry grain is everywhere here, and it usually gets into your clothes by the end of the shift. We use heavy needles and thick twine to sew up the sacks once they are weighed. My back often aches by five o'clock, but that is just part of the job. We don't have a big office or a computer system, just a small desk and a notebook where we write everything down. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to find the right bags using a handheld torch. Neighbors stop by to talk about the weather or the local news while they wait. We don't have fancy displays or posters on the walls. If the rice is good, the customers will come back, and that’s been our experience for a long time. We stay busy from early morning until the sun goes down. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it keeps us going. We just do the work and try to be fair with everyone who walks through the door.
