Kalimata Chaul Vandar

Our place is up on the third floor of the K M C Tower, right there by the Old Bus Stand on Kambam Main Road. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always noise from the street below. We deal in rice mostly. People know us as Kalimata Chaul Vandar. Being on the third floor means we have to haul bags up and down, which keeps us busy and moving. It’s not the easiest location for heavy sacks, but we make it work. We have been in this spot for some time now. You can see the tower from a distance when you are coming from the main road. We keep different varieties of rice in stock, depending on what the local farmers are bringing in or what the wholesalers have. It’s a simple setup. We don't have fancy displays. Just bags of grain stacked up and a desk to handle the paperwork. Sometimes the lift acts up, so we take the stairs. It’s just how it goes here. The bus stand nearby means there are always people around, which is nice. We get a lot of foot traffic from people just passing through. We don't do much advertising; people just find us or hear about us from their neighbors. It’s just us doing our thing every day, selling rice to whoever needs it in the local area. No fancy titles, just local folks working in the rice trade day after day.
