Sarkkar Super Market

If you are ever walking down Garden Road in Ooty, you will find us at No. 20. Sarkkar Super Market has been a part of this street for some time now. Ooty is a beautiful place, but it can get quite cold and rainy, so we spend a lot of time making sure the shop stays dry and warm for everyone. We sell all sorts of things that people need for their homes. It is not like those giant malls in the big cities. We know most of our customers by their names because they live just around the corner. We spend our mornings stocking the shelves and making sure the vegetables look fresh. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late because of the winding hills, but that is just life here in the mountains. We don't have any fancy marketing tricks. We just put the prices on the items and help people find what they need. The shop gets very busy during the tourist season, which is a bit hectic but good for business. Most days it is just the local crowd coming in for tea or soap or flour. We have a few staff members who have been with us for years. We just try to keep the place tidy and the shelves full. It is a simple way to earn a living here on Garden Road. It gets very misty in the evenings, but we stay open until late.
