Gudalur Adivasi Hospital

We’ve been here at Kothravayal for quite some time now, mostly just doing what needs to be done for the people around here. The hospital sits out here past PO Box 20, and honestly, it gets pretty busy early in the morning. Most of us who work here live close by, so we know the families coming through the doors. It isn't a fancy place with shiny floors or big advertisements, but we have enough beds and a small team that stays late when the buses are slow. People walk in from all over the Gudalur area, sometimes after traveling a long way on the winding roads. We deal with all sorts of things, from basic fever to more serious stuff that happens in the villages. The wait can be long on Mondays, and the reception desk is usually piled high with old folders because we still do a lot of things by hand. There is a lot of tea drinking between shifts in the back room while we talk about the rains or the crops. It’s just how life is at Gudalur Adivasi Hospital. We keep the lights on and try to help whoever shows up at the gate. Sometimes we run out of chairs in the waiting area, so folks just lean against the walls or talk outside in the yard. It's a simple setup, really, nothing too complicated about it. We just do our best with what we have.
