Vaigai Steels & Granites

Vaigai Steels & Granites is right near the New Bus Stand in the Thanjavur Housing Unit. We’re at number 50, which is a pretty convenient spot since there are always people moving around that part of town. Having both steel and granite means there is always something going on. One minute we’re looking at metal rods and the next we’re checking the finish on a piece of granite. It makes the days go by fast. The area can get a bit crowded with the buses coming and going, but we like the energy of it. Our yard is usually full of materials waiting to be picked up. We don't have a team of secretaries or a polished reception area. It’s just us and the guys who help with the heavy lifting. You’ll usually find us with a measuring tape in hand or talking on the phone with a supplier. The walls of our small office are covered with old calendars and notes we’ve scribbled down. It’s not a fancy setup, but it works for what we do. We’ve seen the housing unit area grow quite a bit over the years. More people are moving in and fixing up their places, which keeps us busy. We just try to stay organized and make sure we have what people are looking for when they walk in. It’s a lot of physical work, especially in the heat, but we’re used to it by now. We just keep moving.
