Sri Kumaran Stores

Our shop is at number 56 in Pattukottai. We’re right near the post office, so it’s easy for people to find us when they’re out running errands. Sri Kumaran Stores has been a part of this street for a long time. It’s a typical local store. We stock what people need for their houses. It’s not a huge place, but we pack a lot into the shelves. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when there are more than three people inside at once. I usually sit near the front to help customers. We get a lot of regulars who stop by just to say hello while they’re walking to the post office. The fan stays on all day because it gets quite warm in here. We don't have any big corporate plans. We just want to make sure we have what folks are looking for when they walk through the door. It’s a simple way to spend the day. I’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in here with their own families now. Time goes by fast when you’re working. We keep the books by hand mostly. It works for us. If someone needs something we don't have, we try to get it in for next time. That’s just how we do things in Pattukottai. It’s a quiet life but it’s ours. We usually take a break in the afternoon when it’s too hot outside.
