Our place is out at 401 Mankudiyar Colony. It is right on the Avanam Road in Peravurani. We are known as Peravurani Coconut Dryers Private Limited. As the name suggests, we mostly spend our time dealing with coconuts. It is a lot of manual work and can be quite tiring. We spend our days out in the heat making sure the drying process goes exactly right. It depends a lot on the sun and the general weather conditions. Some days are definitely better than others for this kind of work. We do not have a big fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. We are usually found outside or in the main drying shed. The colony is a good spot for us because there is enough open space for all the coconuts we handle. It is a pretty simple life here. We do not use big words or have long, boring meetings. We just look at the crop and get to work. People around Peravurani know what we do and they know we’ve been at it for a while. It is a practical business for a practical town. Sometimes the rain messes up our entire schedule and we have to move very fast to cover the stock. That is just part of the job.
