Mechanical Fabrication

You can find us at 1-81 East Street in Millath Nagar. We’re in the Chakkarappalli area of Thanjore district. It’s a local shop where we focus on mechanical fabrication. That basically means we spend our time cutting, bending, and putting metal together for different needs. The floor is usually covered in metal scraps and we have to sweep it up every couple of hours so we don't trip. It’s hot work, especially during the Tamil Nadu summers. We have a few welding machines and some heavy cutters that get a lot of use. People from around the village bring us all sorts of things they need made or fixed. Sometimes it’s a gate, other times it’s a part for a tractor or some tool. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the equipment. It’s noisy in the shop when the grinders are going, so we don't do much talking while we work. We’ve been in this spot for a long time and everyone in the neighborhood knows the sound of our shop. We don’t have a fancy office or a secretary. If you need something, you just come to the door and shout over the noise. It’s a simple way of doing business but it works for us. We just focus on getting the fabrication done so people can get back to their own jobs.
