Kuba Women Foundation

Kuba Women Foundation is located at 1836/P on West Main Street in Thanjavur. We’ve been operating from this spot for a bit now. It’s a traditional part of town and we like being right on the main street. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It’s just a room with some tables and a lot of papers. We are a small group of women who wanted to support others in our community. We don't have a big corporate structure or a board of directors in suits. It’s just us, sitting around and figuring things out as we go. Thanjavur is a beautiful place to live and work. We feel lucky to be here. We spend our days meeting with local women and seeing what they need. Sometimes it's just a bit of advice, other times it's more practical help. We don't have a big marketing budget, so most people find us just by walking past our door on West Main Street. We like it that way. It keeps things personal. The work can be tiring sometimes, but it’s always interesting. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule. If someone needs help late in the evening, we try to be there. It’s more of a community effort than a business. We handle everything ourselves, from cleaning the office to doing the accounting. It’s hard work, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
