A.R.J. Polytechnic College

If you head down Court Road in Thanjavur, you’ll find us at 84C. It’s a pretty central location, so there’s always a lot of traffic and people moving about. We’ve been running this polytechnic college for quite some time now. The building is a bit of a landmark on this street. Since it’s a technical school, you’ll often hear the sounds of tools or machines from the workshops. It’s not a quiet place, but then again, learning a trade shouldn’t be silent. Our students come from all over the district, and many of them arrive early by bus. We spend a lot of time in the labs and work areas rather than just sitting in offices. The floors are often a bit scuffed and there’s usually some project being worked on in a corner. We don’t go in for fancy talk or big promises; we just provide the space and the equipment. Thanjavur is a traditional place, and we fit right in with that. The staff here is mostly local people who have been with us for years. We keep our own records and manage the building ourselves. It’s a lot of work keeping up with 84C, especially when the rainy season hits and we have to watch for leaks. But it’s where we are, and we just keep the gates open and the lights on. Every day brings something new to fix or teach.
