Arc Sree Kamatchi Nagai Maligai

Our shop, Arc Sree Kamatchi Nagai Maligai, is located at 11-A, South East Rampart. We are right opposite the Old Town Bus Stand, which is a very busy spot. There is always a lot of noise from the buses and people rushing to catch their rides. We’ve been here for a while, selling gold and silver jewelry to the local families. It’s a small shop, not like those big showrooms you see in the cities with air conditioning that freezes you out. We have benches for people to sit on while they look at the bangles or necklaces. Buying jewelry is a big deal for most of our customers, usually for weddings or festivals, so we don't like to rush anyone. We show them the pieces, let them weigh it, and talk about the current rates. Sometimes we just sit and chat about the town news while someone decides on a pair of earrings. The lighting inside is bright so the gold looks right, but the rest of the place is pretty plain. We keep the glass cases clean, but the floor gets dusty pretty fast with everyone coming in from the street. It’s a family-run feel here. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names or at least we recognize their faces from the neighborhood. We just keep things simple and try to give people a fair deal on their ornaments.
