Chelson Footwear Manufacturing Company Pvt. Ltd. is located over at Plot A/242 on Road No. 33 in the Wagle Industrial Estate. It’s a pretty large area, and we’re right in the thick of it with all the other factories and units. Our building is mostly dedicated to the actual making of the shoes, so there’s a lot of heavy equipment and the smell of rubber and glue. It’s not a quiet place to spend your day. There’s a constant rhythm to the machines that you eventually stop noticing after a few hours. We have a small crew of people who have been with us for years, and we all know the routine. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, everything goes silent and we all just take a break until it comes back on. The office part of the building is small and mostly filled with filing cabinets and old ledgers. We don’t do much in the way of decorating because we’re more focused on the production side of things. It can get pretty hot in the summer, but we have some big fans that help a bit. Most days are about hitting our numbers and making sure the quality is what it should be. We deal with suppliers and delivery drivers all day long. It’s hard work and your feet usually ache by the end of the shift, but it’s what we know how to do. We’ve been in this spot for years and don’t plan on moving anywhere else.
