Urooj E Kokan Foundation

Urooj E Kokan Foundation is based in Ratnagiri, over in Shivajinagar. We are in the Standard Apartments, right near the Parkar Hospital. The office is care of Kazi Noorjahan Page, and it’s been our home base for quite a while now. Ratnagiri is a beautiful place, and our office has that typical small-town feel to it. It’s not a high-tech center. We have some old wooden furniture, a few fans that have seen better days, and a lot of paper records stacked in the corners. The apartment is on a street that gets a bit busy during hospital hours, but it’s mostly quiet. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy website. We just know the people in the community and they know us. Most days, it’s just two or three of us here, handling the daily chores and talking to anyone who stops by. We don't have an air conditioner, so we keep the windows open to let the breeze in, even if it brings in some dust. We usually have tea together in the afternoon and talk about what’s going on in the neighborhood. It’s a very simple and straightforward way of working. We don't use a lot of big words or have complicated rules. We just show up and do what we can to keep the foundation moving forward. It’s a modest place, but it works for what we need to do. We just take things as they come.
