We are over in Thane, specifically on the first floor of the Mhatre Building. It’s a solid old building, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you’re carrying heavy bags. Transcon Freight India Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a bit now. We spend our days coordinating how to get freight from one side of India to the other. Maharashtra is a big place, and Thane is right in the middle of all the action, which helps. The office feels lived-in. There are stacks of files on the desks and empty tea cups that haven't been washed yet. We don't have a receptionist in a suit; usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up and says hello. It gets a bit loud when the traffic outside picks up, but we just talk louder. We use simple computers and a lot of pens. Half the time, we are looking for a pen that actually works. We don't talk about being the best or anything like that. We just do the work that needs doing. Sometimes we stay late because a shipment is stuck, and other times we leave a bit early when the weather is nice. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people who know a lot about trucks and shipping containers. The Mhatre Building has its charms, like the way the windows rattle when a big truck goes past. We like the neighborhood and the people we see every day. It's a good spot.
