Suryaamba Foundation

You will find Suryaamba Foundation out in the village of Nayakund. This is part of the Parshioni Tehsil in the Nagpur district. It is quite a distance from the main city area, which gives it a very different feel. We are surrounded by more open space and a slower pace of life than you’d find in the urban centers. Working in a village like Nayakund means we are very close to the people we are actually trying to help. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It's a basic building that serves as our headquarters. We don't have much in the way of fancy technology, just the essentials to get our work done. Most of our days are spent talking to neighbors and handling local issues that come up. Nagpur weather can get incredibly hot, so we try to get most of our heavy work done in the early morning hours before the sun gets too high. We are just a group of people from the area who wanted to have a set place to work from. The foundation name is on a small board outside. People in the village know us, so we don't need a lot of advertising. It’s an honest way of living and working. We stay busy with the day-to-day tasks and don't worry too much about the rest. Sometimes the road to the village gets dusty, but that’s just rural life.
