Sonkar Store

Sonkar Store is tucked away in Fakir Wadi, over in the Behram Baug area of Jogeshwari West. Even though some people talk about Nariman Point, we are firmly rooted here near the Shiv Temple. It’s a local spot where people from the neighborhood drop in. The store isn’t very big, so we have to stack things pretty high on the shelves to make everything fit. It can get a little dark in the back corners, but we know exactly where every item is. Most of the day is spent chatting with the regulars who live nearby. You see the same faces every morning and evening. We open up early to catch the people heading out for work and stay open until the street gets quiet at night. The temple nearby brings a lot of people through the lane, especially on certain days of the week. It can get pretty loud with the bells and the crowds. We don’t have a computer system or anything fancy for tracking things; we mostly just use a notebook and our memory. The floor is a bit uneven in places, and the door squeaks when you open it. It’s just a normal neighborhood store. We try to keep the staples in stock and help out whoever walks in. It’s a quiet life, mostly, just keeping the shop running and making sure the shelves aren't empty.
