Down near the Mithila Tanks at Plot No. 268, things stay pretty busy. You can hear the metal-on-metal sound from our workshop before you even walk through the door at Upvan. Shivam Machine Tools is basically a big room full of heavy equipment and the smell of cutting oil. It’s a bit dark inside because we keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool, but we’ve got plenty of overhead lights so we can see what we’re doing with the lathes and drills. My hands are usually a bit stained with oil by ten in the morning, and that’s just how I like it. We don't spend much time in the front office unless we absolutely have to file something or answer the phone. Most of the action happens out back where the actual machines are. We’ve got some old equipment that still runs better than the new stuff, and we treat those machines like they’re part of the family. The area around Upvan is alright, though it gets a bit muddy when the rain comes down hard. We usually have a few pieces of scrap metal sitting out front waiting to be picked up by the recycling truck. It’s a no-nonsense environment where we just focus on getting the dimensions right. If someone walks in looking for a sales pitch, they’ve come to the wrong place; we’d rather just show them what the machine can actually do.
