Shalimar Textiles

Down at V. P. Naka in Bhiwandi, things move pretty fast. That’s where you’ll find Shalimar Textiles. It’s a busy area, lots of trucks and people moving fabric around at all hours of the day. Our place isn’t anything special to look at, just a big space filled with rolls of cloth and the sound of people working. We spend a lot of time just counting inventory and making sure the right colors are going to the right people. It gets dusty with all the lint in the air, so we’re always sweeping up. The heat in Bhiwandi can be tough, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the roof. We just keep the doors open and try to catch a breeze. We’ve got a small crew, and everyone knows their job. There’s no one in a suit telling us what to do; we just know what needs to happen. Some days the orders come in all at once and it’s a bit chaotic, but we manage to get through it. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the local tea stall knows exactly how we like our drinks. It’s a simple life, focused on the textiles and making sure we don’t lose track of anything. We don’t do a lot of talking about ourselves; the stacks of fabric in the warehouse pretty much say it all. It's just work that we do.
