Savishkar Foundation

If you go down to Rambaug Lane No. 5 in Kalyan West, you will find the Savishkar Foundation in the Blue Gaiety Building. We are in office number 104 on the first floor. It is a small space, but we manage to make it work for what we do. We spend a lot of our time here just talking to the locals about what is happening in the neighborhood. We are not a corporate office with people wearing suits and ties. Most of us just wear our regular clothes. We started this foundation because we wanted to do something useful for the people living in Kalyan. Sometimes we help out with the local schools, and other times we just help someone try to navigate the local government offices, which can be a real headache. It is a lot of talking and a lot of waiting around for things to get done. The building itself is usually pretty busy, so there is always a lot of noise from the street coming in through our windows. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything fancy like that. Most people find out about us by word of mouth. Someone tells a neighbor that we helped them with a problem, and then that neighbor shows up at our door a few days later. We try to be as helpful as we can without making a big scene. It's just our way of staying involved in Kalyan.
