Over in Kalyan East, tucked away in the Nandivali Village area, you’ll find S. P. Impex Mushrooms Private Limited. We are on the first floor, Room Number 101, of the Shri Shiv Saidham Society. It’s a residential-style building, so it feels very much like a home office. We focus on mushrooms, which is a bit different from the usual grain or fruit trade you see around here. Kalyan is a busy place, and being in the East side means we are part of a growing neighborhood. The office is usually filled with the smell of coffee and the sound of people talking on their mobiles. We don't have a big marketing department or a fancy lobby. It is just a few rooms where we manage the importing and exporting side of things. We started this because we saw a gap in how mushrooms were being handled in the Thane district. Most of our day is spent talking to growers and checking on the quality of the produce. We’ve had to learn a lot about the shelf life and the temperature needs for our products. It’s not always easy, and sometimes things go wrong, but we just fix it and move on. The neighbors in the society are used to us by now. We try to keep things quiet and professional without all the corporate fluff. It’s a small, honest business run by people who actually care about what they are shipping out to the world.
