Reliance Energy-Mumbai Metro One

You can find us at Charles Vemuri’s place in Nerul. It is number 104 in the Mallikarjuna building, which is part of the Konkan Rail Vihar in Sector 40. Being in Navi Mumbai means we are right in the middle of everything with the Metro One project. It’s a lot different from being in the main city, maybe a bit quieter but still plenty of movement. The apartment complex is a nice spot. We don't have a giant office building with a glass front. It’s just a regular place where we keep track of the Reliance Energy work for the metro. Sometimes it feels more like a community because neighbors are always walking by. Charles handles the main bits of it. We have our computers set up and maps of the metro lines pinned to the walls. Navi Mumbai is growing fast, and you can feel it even from this office. There’s always someone coming over to drop off a report or talk about the rail schedules. It’s practical. We don’t go in for anything fancy. The kitchen usually has a kettle going for coffee. We spend the day looking at numbers and coordinating with the guys out on the tracks. It’s a solid way to work. You get to see the real side of the project without all the corporate noise you find elsewhere. It's just a regular flat where big transit plans get sorted out every day.
