Pick Permaculture Foods and Bio Products is located in Kalwa, specifically in the Upper Crust Complex. We are in flat number 902, which is quite high up. The building is right on the Mumbai Pune Road, so there is a lot of traffic passing by all day and night. Being near Abhudaya Bank makes it easier for people to find us. We don’t have a proper shopfront, so we just work out of this apartment. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we have so many bio products and supplies stored here. We started this because we are interested in permaculture and wanted to make a business out of it. It’s mostly just a couple of us doing all the work. We pack the orders ourselves and handle all the paperwork right here on the dining table. It’s not a very corporate way of doing things, but it works for us. We don’t have any big mission statements or polished marketing plans. We just take things one day at a time. The view from the ninth floor is okay, but we are usually too busy to look out the window much. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we have a fan and just keep going. We like being in Kalwa because it’s well-connected, even if the road is noisy. It’s just a simple, local business that we’re trying to build up.
