Omega Industries

You’ll find Omega Industries at 8, Gaikar Wada. We are tucked away behind the ration godowns on Adharwadi Road in Kalyan (W). It’s a bit of a tricky spot to find if you haven’t been here before because the godowns are quite big and they sort of hide the entrance. The neighborhood is mostly industrial, so there are always people moving crates or driving small tempos around. Our space is just a basic setup with some work tables and a small corner for files. It’s not a very big area, so things can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in. We’ve got a few ceiling fans that squeak a little when they’re on high, but they do the job. The walls are a pale color that’s faded over the years. We don’t really do much in the way of styling the place. It’s more about having a spot to get things done. Most of the guys here live nearby, so they walk or take a cycle to get to work. On rainy days, the road outside gets some big puddles, so we have to be careful coming in. We usually keep a radio playing in the background just to have some noise other than the machines. It’s a straightforward kind of life here. We show up, do what’s on the list for the day, and then lock up and go home.
