Pragati Mahila Bachat Gat

We gather at J.V Plaza- A-14 in the Dias Pareda Nagar area of Naigaon. It’s a local spot where many women from the neighborhood come together. Pragati Mahila Bachat Gat is basically about all of us trying to manage our small savings and help each other out when someone needs it. We sit in the room at Vasai and talk about the different things we are working on. Sometimes we make small products to sell or just keep track of the accounts in our ledgers. It’s not a big company or a bank. It’s just us. The room can get a bit crowded when everyone shows up at the same time. There’s always a lot of talking and sometimes we bring tea. We started this because we wanted a way to be more independent. We use the space at J.V Plaza to meet and plan. It’s a simple setup with a few chairs and some cupboards for our papers. The building is usually busy with other people going about their business. We don’t have fancy marketing or a website. Most people just hear about us through friends or family in Naigaon. It’s been working well for us so far. We just take it one month at a time and see how we can keep things going for everyone involved. It’s a quiet but steady kind of work that keeps us connected to each other every single day.
