Menlhai Jamtse Foundation

Our place is at 788 Krishna Niwas in Adarsh Nagar. It’s right off the New Link Road in Jogeshwari West. It’s a pretty busy neighborhood with a lot of shops and people always walking around. Menlhai Jamtse Foundation started because we felt like there were things in the community that weren't being looked after. We’re not a big organization with a lot of funding. It's mostly just us using what we have to help out. The office is basically one main room where we keep all our stuff. It's a bit cramped, especially when more than three people are inside. We don't spend much money on fancy things. We’d rather use it for the projects we’re working on. Most days involve a lot of tea and talking to people who stop by from the neighborhood. We don't have a big marketing strategy or anything like that. We just do what needs to be done. Sometimes it’s organizing a small event or helping a family in the building next door. It’s honest work, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. Jogeshwari can be a chaotic place to live and work, but we like being right in the middle of it. We just want to be helpful neighbors. There's no corporate hierarchy here, just a group of people trying to do something decent for the area. We keep our heads down and work.
