Kothari Compound is a very busy place to be. There are dozens of different businesses all working here near Tikujiniwadi in the Manpada area. Our space is at No. J/3. If you come by to visit, you will see stacks of pipes almost everywhere you look. Some are made of plastic and some are metal, and they come in all sorts of different sizes. Moving them around the yard is a bit like playing a game of puzzle because they take up so much room. We use a small forklift when it’s working, but a lot of the time it is just hand-loading everything onto the trucks. The ground in this compound is quite uneven, so we have to be really careful how we stack the pipes so they don't roll away. Manpada is a good area, but the traffic near the park can get very bad in the late afternoons. We spend a lot of our time on the phone talking to people about pipe diameters and how thick the walls need to be. It gets a bit technical sometimes, but we just explain it in plain words. The office is just a small corner of the warehouse that we partitioned off. It has an old fan that makes a lot of noise. We keep all our records in big binders on the shelf. When it rains, the sound on the metal roof is so loud we can't hear anything. We just wait for it to stop.
