We are tucked away in a society right behind the Lic building on Hajuri Darga Road in Thane West. It’s a bit of a specific spot to find if you aren’t from around here, but it works fine for what we do. This office handles a lot of the Mumbai side of the steel operations. It’s usually pretty quiet inside, except when we have a lot of shipments to coordinate and the phones won't stop ringing. We aren’t trying to be some corporate giant with glass walls and fancy carpets; it’s more of a practical space. We’ve got our files and our desks, and that’s about it. The weather in Thane can be a bit much in the summer, but we keep the fans going and get through the day’s logs. Most of the people working here have been around for a few years now. We know the neighbors and the guy at the local tea stall. It’s a very local feel even though the name on the door sounds like a big company. We just do the work that needs doing every day. Dealing with the steel business means a lot of checking and re-checking numbers. We don’t do any fancy marketing stuff here. It’s just us sitting in the office, making sure everything is lined up for the next day. It gets the job done and keeps us moving. The commute can be long, but we’re used to it by now.
