It is a quiet area, and the post office is also right here in Bambhai, so mail gets to us eventually. Being in a village means things move a little slower than in the big cities, but that suits the work we do. The office is basically just a room in the house that we’ve converted for the foundation. It’s got a solid floor and enough space for a few of us to sit and talk. We don’t have a receptionist or a waiting room; people just walk in through the main entrance. You might see some goats or cows nearby because it is a farming area after all. We deal with whatever comes our way, mostly helping out with local issues and keeping records of the people we talk to. Ramratan Singh has been kind enough to let us use this space for a long time. It feels like a home because it actually is part of a home. We keep the door open most of the day to let the breeze in. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually have a fan going. It is a simple setup for simple work. Everyone in the village knows where we are, so if you get lost, just ask a neighbor for the foundation office.
