Hindustan Mill Stores

Hindustan Mill Stores is over at 481 Gani Apartments. It is right on the Mumbai Agra Road in the Thane district, so there is always a lot of noise from the trucks going by. We have been here for a long while now, surrounded by heavy boxes and various metal parts that go into mills. The space inside Gani Apartments isn't huge, but we make it work by stacking things wherever they fit. Most days start with opening up the shutters and checking what needs to go out to the local factories. It gets pretty dusty because of the road, and sometimes the heat in Thane makes the afternoon sluggish, but we just keep at it. People stop by looking for specific valves or belts, and we usually know exactly which pile they are in. It is a straightforward operation without any fancy displays or anything like that. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or marking down inventory in old ledgers. The 84/85 plot area is a busy spot, so there is never really a quiet moment. We just focus on getting the right parts to the people who need them so their machines keep running. It is honest work, and we have gotten used to the rhythm of the traffic and the smell of grease and metal. That is pretty much the daily life here at our spot on the Mumbai Agra Road.
