Gyaandaan Foundation

Gyaandaan Foundation is located at Number 15 in the Vishwa CHS building on Plot 26A, Sector 9A in Vashi. If you know Navi Mumbai, you know this is a pretty quiet residential part of town. Our office is just one of the rooms in the society. It is absolutely packed with books and old magazines. We have shelves going all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes we have to move stacks of paper just to find a place to sit down. We spend most of our time sorting through these donations and making sure they get to schools or libraries that need them. We also have a couple of old computers where we help kids with their schoolwork or show them how to use the internet. It is not a very formal place. One of us is usually there to open the door, but we might be in the middle of sorting a big pile of books. We don't have any big funders or a marketing department. We just rely on the people in Vashi to drop off things they don't need anymore. The room can get a bit stuffy, so we usually keep the door open to let some air in from the corridor. It’s a simple, local operation run by people who just happen to live in the same sector. We are just happy to help out where it is needed.
