Dattacharya Leather Goods

We are set up at G-8 in Ganesh Tower, which is very close to the station. Being near the station means there is always a crowd outside, and you can hear the trains coming and going all day long. Dattacharya Leather Goods is a small spot, and the first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell of leather. It’s a strong scent that gets into your clothes, but we don't even notice it anymore. We spend our hours cutting and stitching. There are scraps of leather all over the floor by the end of the day. We try to sweep up, but it just accumulates again the next morning. It is mostly handwork here. We have a couple of old machines that make a lot of noise, but they are reliable. Ganesh Tower is an older building, so it has its quirks, like the elevator that sometimes decides not to work. We just take the stairs then. It keeps us moving. People coming from the station often drop in to see what we are making. We don't have a big sales pitch or anything. We just show them what is on the workbench. It’s a simple way to work, focusing on one piece at a time until it is finished. Most of our tools have been with us for years. It’s just how we like to operate. We stay here until the last train rush is mostly over.
