Our unit is number 20 over in the Varsha Industrial Estate on Navghar Cross Road. It’s an older building, but it does the job for what we do. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the other shop owners on the floor. Most of our day is spent dealing with orders and checking stock. It’s mostly industrial stuff, so it’s not exactly a place where people come to browse for fun. We get a lot of phone calls from people looking for specific parts or materials. The cross road can get really jammed with lorries, especially in the afternoons, so getting things in and out takes some patience. Inside, the walls are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit dusty, as you’d expect from an industrial estate. We don't spend much on decorating because we're focused on the work. My brother and I run the place with a couple of helpers who have been with us for a long time. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the couriers to show up. It’s a basic operation, no frills at all. We just make sure the orders go out to the right places and that we don't run out of the basics. It’s steady work and keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We usually close up around six or seven in the evening.
